These facts alone don't necessarily make for a great Traction Pad, so in this article I plan on taking a look at why Dakine Traction sells so well, as well as highlighting a few of our best selling Dakine Traction Pads. If you're looking into a new Traction Pad and more specifically, a Dakine Traction Pad this article is for you!
When I look at the Dakine Traction Pad line I see a huge variety of Pads and I think that's the biggest reason for their success. If you're a typical surfer you have multiple surfboards and those surfboards are inherently different. This means your boards have different tail sizes and are used for different size waves. That's all we need to know. Given this information about surfers and their surfboards we know you'll need a different style Traction Pad for each surfboard and that's where the variety Dakine offers has you covered.
For example, lets say you have a high performance shortboard and you just want a Traction Pad that works, nothing extreme, just something that will preform for you every session. The Dakine Andy Pro is probably your Traction Pad. The Dakine Andy Pro is a 3-peice Traction Pad that's only available in black, with an arch, a tail kick, and at a size that will give you decent tail coverage. Nothing fancy, just a great Traction Pad. Maybe after looking at the Dakine Andy Pro, you think you might want a bit longer pad to get your foot further forward in barrel riding situations. If that's the case you should take a look at the Dakine Bruce Irons Pro Traction Pad. While similar to the Andy Pro, the Bruce Pro is a bit more streamlined for a narrower tail, with an additional two pieces toward the top so you can have your back foot further forward on this particular Traction Pad as would be needed in a deep barreling situation.
Now, neither of the aforementioned Dakine Traction Pads have any "holes" in them, which I personally prefer. I feel that when performing a big snap or layback, holes on a Traction Pad give you just a tad more grip to pull off that style maneuver. Well, Dakine has Traction Pads in their line if you have a similar preference. Something like the "Sea Bass" Traction Pad might be for you. Now, admittedly I'm not a good enough surfer, but lets say you're really trying to dial in your air game, the "Launch" might be the Pad for you, with holes and one of the biggest tail kicks offered on any Traction Pad we carry and Dakine has it.
Last but certainly not least, every serious surfer has a Funboard/Fish or Longboard for those summer flat spells. Again, Dakine has a Traction Pad perfect for even these types of surfboards. For a fish you can take a look at the "Bigfoot" or "Retro Fish" Traction Pads and for a Longboard you would probably want to look at the Dakine "Longboard" Traction Pad. All of these Traction Pads were made with no arch and were made much longer and wider than your typical Traction Pad so they could cover the space needed for these style surfboards.
